Job summary

The Aptus Group is seeking a compassionate Behavior Technician (BII) to support youth in a detention center setting. You will work one-on-one with an assigned student to help them meet behavioral goals during school hours.

This position is part-time, Monday through Friday, in Commerce, CA 90040, with weekly pay and ongoing training. You’ll implement behavior plans, collect progress data, and collaborate with staff to maintain a safe, learning-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Work with youth in a juvenile court school setting.
• Students aged 12–19 with behavior challenges.
• 6 months of experience in behavioral services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavioral support to the assigned student throughout the school day.
• Implement behavior intervention strategies and support plans.
• Collect and document behavioral data and progress toward goals.
• Support teachers in maintaining a safe, structured classroom.

Skills

Strong written and verbal comms

Spanish language ability

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred

RBT certification a plus

Pay Rate: $24 per hour

Location: Commerce, CA 90040

Schedule: Part Time (Monday - Friday)

Requirements:

• Comfortable working in a juvenile court school setting with students ages 12-19 years of age who have behavior challenges
• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree is preferred
• Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification is a plus
• 6 months of experience working in behavioral services
• Availability to work Monday through Friday during school hours
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
• Reliable transportation

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct behavioral support to assigned student(s) throughout the school day
• Implement behavior intervention strategies and support plans
• Assist teachers in maintaining a safe, structured, and learning-focused classroom
• Support students in meeting individualized behavior and educational goals
• Collect and document behavioral data, case notes, and progress toward goals
• Model and reinforce appropriate behavior and coping skills
• Maintain accurate documentation of daily progress and student behavior
• Support students with transitions and social-emotional regulation
• Work collaboratively with classroom staff, school teams, and supervisors
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times
