Job summary

State of Connecticut Judicial Branch in Willimantic seeks a Court Services Officer for Juvenile Matters to provide a full range of alternative dispute resolution, case management and court-related services in child protection cases. Duties include managing dockets, mediating with families and attorneys, and advising on juvenile court procedures.

The role requires a Bachelor's in social sciences and three years of relevant experience, with a Master's preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in the social sciences or related field required.
• Three years of professional experience in social work, counseling or human services related to child welfare or child development.
• Master's degree in social sciences or related field preferred.
• Valid Connecticut motor vehicle operator's license required and a vehicle available for daily use.

Responsibilities

• Manage court dockets and conduct conferences with parents, attorneys and the Department of Children and Families.
• Utilize mediation and negotiation to facilitate settlements in the best interests of children.
• Consult with the presiding judge on status of cases and procedural issues.
• Provide guidance on juvenile court procedures and related social issues to involved parties.
• Conduct emancipation investigations and prepare recommendations for the court.
