Qualifications

  • Must have two years of experience in corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice, or related rehabilitation work.
  • Substitution education can replace up to six months (Associate) or one year (Bachelor) of experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Department of Juvenile Justice Training Academy may substitute for one year of required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises institutional operations and a shift in the absence of a Shift Captain.
  • Co-leads group counseling sessions and supervises juveniles.
  • Maintains shift logs and notifies supervisors of issues; completes incident reports.
  • Provides guidance and informal counseling to Correctional Officers and ensures youth awareness of rights and procedures.
  • Transports juveniles as needed and oversees building maintenance and safety tasks.
  • Attends staff meetings, case conferences and trainings as assigned.

Skills

Two years corrections experience
Valid driver’s license

Education

High school diploma
Associate/Bachelor substitutions for experience
