Job summary

Ted Lechner Youth Services Center seeks a Juvenile Care Worker to supervise youth in a secure detention and shelter care setting. Responsibilities include enforcing rules, maintaining order, and monitoring activities to ensure safety and well-being of youth.

  • Communicate changes to youth to all staff in writing and orally.

Examples of Duties

  • Supervision of youth in a restrictive detention environment and shelter care facility;
  • Conduct intake interviews of youth and document youth behaviors and emotional status;
  • Provides basic care and supervision to youth;
  • Monitors and assesses the behavioral and emotional characteristics of referred youth and provides additional supervision to prevent self-harm as needed;
  • Regularly communicates orally, and in writing, any changes to youth, to all members of the youth care facility.
Education/Experience/Training
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from a college or university of recognized standing with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or closely related field; or
  • Associate degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or closely related field; and two (2) years’ experience working with youth in crisis.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience totaling four (4) years in a closely related field will be considered.
Certifications:
  • Valid Montana driver’s license;
  • CPR certification (within 6 months);
  • CPI certification (within 6 months).
Required:
  • Must pass driving and background check.
