Job summary

The Maricopa County Justice Court in Arizona seeks a highly autonomous Justice Court Navigator to bridge the public and the judicial system. You will work independently, providing one-on-one help to navigate complex rules and procedures, including processing fingerprints and facilitating court services.

You will interpret court policies, manage case reviews in multiple databases, and assist with remote and in-person access to court information, aiming to improve efficiency and service quality.

Qualifications

  • Three years of progressively responsible full-time legal, court, or justice system support-related experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for up to two years of the required experience.
  • Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills are valued.
  • Experience with iCIS, MS Office, EDMS or other computer technology is valued.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the Justice Court System in Civil, Small Claims, Criminal, Traffic, Protective Orders and Eviction Actions is valued.

Responsibilities

  • Assist self-represented litigants with navigating Court processes and forms.
  • Interpret court calendars and coordinate with court management for public wayfinding.
  • Perform complex case management reviews in court databases such as iCIS, OnBase and MVRRS.
  • Retrieve, review, and interpret case statuses and documents for accuracy.
  • Assist the public remotely and in person with access to case information and court forms; facilitate virtual platforms.

Full Pay Range: $21.25 - $34.50 hourly

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

As a Justice Court Navigator at Southeast Court, you will serve as a vital link between the public and the judicial system. Working in a stand-alone capacity with limited supervision, you will take direct ownership of your daily responsibilities, offering personalized, one-on-one assistance to community members navigating complex legal rules and procedures.

In this hands-on, highly autonomous position, you will work closely with individuals to deliver exceptional customer service, manage critical in-person services, including capturing fingerprints, and exercise strong decision-making skills to resolve intricate inquiries. Job Contributions
  • Assist self-represented litigants with navigating Court processes by providing specialized assistance regarding various Court rules, policies, procedures, and forms without offering legal advice; Interpret court calendars and coordinate with court management to assist with public wayfinding
  • Perform complex case management reviews in a variety of court databases, including iCIS, OnBase, and MVRRS
  • Retrieve, review, and interpret case statuses, filed documents, and document submittal requirements; read and interpret complex minute entries and review exhibits for completeness and consistency with court processes
  • Assist the public both remotely and through in-person contact with access to case information, court forms, and various documents. Assist the public with technical platforms to facilitate the court virtual environment to include, but not limited to: AZ Point, Court Connect, and other current and future virtual platforms
  • Answer complex questions regarding Court practices, policies, and procedures; listen to litigant concerns and respond to complex inquiries about court forms and case processing information; schedule hearings and administrative conferences
  • Assist with coordinating parties on jury trial days; greet visitors and assist with check-in for court proceedings. Refer litigants to outside agencies and other community resources for assistance, and act as a liaison regarding program support
