VHB’s Transportation Planner in South Portland, ME offers exposure to a diverse range of projects and collaboration across disciplines. You will support transportation planning studies, public involvement materials, GIS analyses, and documentation, with opportunities to grow within a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in planning or civil engineering and 0–1 years of related experience, plus familiarity with Esri GIS tools.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years of related professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in planning, civil engineering, or related field.
• Experience with Esri ArcGIS Desktop software, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online a plus.
• Experience in Shapefile (SHP) and File GeoDatabase (DBF) file formats a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of transportation planning studies for a multitude of transportation projects
• Assist with development of support materials for public involvement activities
• Support with authorship of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies and demographic analyses
• Prepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reports
• Conduct planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize results
• Perform field data collection and other on-site project support activities
• Assist in safety studies
