Job summary

The City of Pueblo is seeking an entry-level Planner to support the Planning and Community Development Department. You will work under supervision, respond to public inquiries, and assist with zoning, master planning, and land use studies to support the city’s growth and compliance with regulations.

You will coordinate with other departments, prepare planning reports, and occasionally present findings to boards and commissions.

Qualifications

  • Six months of customer or public service experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in planning, geography, public administration, policy, business, engineering, architecture or a social sciences field
  • Four years of experience in a land use or planning environment with high public interface

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews zoning, subdivision, master planning and development proposals for compliance with regulations
  • Performs current and long-range land use transportation planning
  • Researches and interprets trends and prepares planning reports
  • Assists in development plans submission and reviews for code compliance
  • Answers questions and provides information to the public and external agencies
  • Coordinates city planning activities with other departments and outside agencies
  • Conducts field inspections to verify compliance with permits and licenses
