Job summary

Fehr & Peers is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer or Planner in California to build a foundation by applying standard techniques under experienced staff guidance. You’ll grow through diverse projects in transportation planning, engineering, and design, gaining experience in planning, traffic operations, and complete streets concepts.

The role emphasizes curiosity, collaboration, and learning across tools and methods, with progression opportunities and exposure to multiple project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or in-progress master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or related fields.
• An EIT is preferred for engineering candidates.
• Experience or exposure to transportation topics such as field work, traffic operations analysis, signal design, planning, bicycle/pedestrian, transit, finance, land use policy, and travel demand modeling.
• Experience with technical software/tools listed above and strong communication skills for writing and public speaking.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and proactive communication with teams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct transportation analysis and prepare technical deliverables.
• Participate in meetings and prepare presentations and outreach materials.
• Support project coordination and management activities.
• Engage with professional organizations and industry activities.
• Conduct site visits and collect field data.
• Contribute to Fehr & Peers internal R&D program.
• Learn and adopt new tools and approaches to improve day-to-day work.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or in-progress master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning
