Job summary

Fehr & Peers is seeking an entry-level Transportation Engineer or Planner in California. You will build a foundation by applying standard techniques under guidance, growing skills, knowledge, and confidence over time.

The role emphasizes curiosity, openness to new tools, and collaborative problem-solving. Responsibilities include transportation analysis, public outreach materials, project coordination, field data collection, and participation in Fehr & Peers' internal R&D and training programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or in-progress Master’s degree in transportation, civil or electrical engineering, urban and regional planning, or related field.
• An EIT is preferred for engineering candidates.
• Experience with field work, traffic operations analysis, and transportation planning.
• Proficiency with Excel, GIS, CAD, and traffic and travel-demand modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct transportation analysis and prepare reports, memos, and other deliverables.
• Prepare presentations and public outreach materials.
• Support project coordination and management activities.
• Engage with professional organizations and industry activities.
• Conduct site visits and collect field data.
• Contribute to Fehr & Peers internal R&D program.
• Learn new tools and technologies while maintaining professional judgment.
