Job summary

Lochmueller Group is seeking an early-career Traffic Engineer to join our Dallas, TX team. The role requires roughly one year of traffic engineering experience, with a preference for candidates familiar with capacity analyses and technical reports.

You will collect data, perform analyses, and prepare reports while supporting modeling, signal timing, and field investigations under guidance from a senior engineer. This is a growth-focused opportunity with a strong company culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• At least 1 year of relevant traffic engineering experience.
• Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong understanding of traffic engineering principles, analytical methods, and applicable design standards.
• Experience with preparing technical traffic engineering reports or memoranda.
• Experience with capacity and level-of-service analyses.

Responsibilities

• Perform traffic engineering analyses including capacity and LOS analyses, traffic impact studies, and safety evaluations.
• Collect and evaluate traffic data from counts, field observations, crash data, and inventories.
• Prepare technical reports, memoranda, exhibits, and presentations communicating methods and findings.
• Assist with transportation modeling, traffic simulation, signal timing evaluations, and traffic operations studies.
• Prepare calculations, preliminary plans, drawings, and design documents for signals, signing, and markings.
• Apply local, state, and federal standards to assigned work.
• Collaborate with team members to develop transportation solutions and deliver projects.
• Conduct field reviews and site observations to support studies and design activities.
• Perform quality-control reviews of assigned work.
