A law firm in New York City, NY, is seeking a Junior- to Mid-Level Intellectual Property Litigation (Patent) Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will have experience litigating patent cases before U.S. district courts, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC), or the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). The role requires a strong educational background in technical fields such as electrical engineering, computer science, or physics. An advanced degree or relevant industry experience is a plus. Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.
Duties
- Represent clients in patent litigation matters before U.S. district courts, the ITC, and the PTAB.
- Develop and implement litigation strategies, including legal research, drafting case briefs, and motion practice.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests.
- Conduct and manage discovery processes, including document review, deposition preparation, and witness interviews.
- Participate in trials, hearings, and other legal proceedings, presenting evidence and legal arguments effectively.
- Collaborate with clients, technical experts, and senior attorneys to build and support patent litigation cases.
- Analyze complex technical information and apply it to legal arguments and strategies.
- Stay updated on trends in patent law, litigation practices, and technological advancements.
- Maintain organized case files and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and procedural requirements.
Requirements
- Experience litigating patent cases before U.S. district courts, the ITC, or the PTAB.
- Preferred educational background includes an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field.
- Advanced degree or industry experience in relevant technical fields is a plus.
- Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.
Education
- JD degree from an accredited law school.
- Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field is preferred.
Certifications
- Membership in the Patent Bar is preferred.
