Job summary

ZipStaff is hiring a Junior Technical Project Coordinator for a leading financial services organization to drive monthly software release management, incident management and environment coordination for its technology teams. This is an on-site contract role in McLean, VA starting November 23, 2026.

Some after-hours work is required on Thursday and Friday evenings a few times a month, with equivalent time off provided within the pay period. Interviews are one 60-minute in-person round.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Information Systems.
• 5+ years total experience including 3+ years as Technical Project Manager or Product Owner.
• 5+ years in Java and Python software development/maintenance.
• Hands-on Jira experience with reporting and JQL.
• Experience with Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and Jenkins CI/CD.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with strong business/technical savvy.
• Ability to work on-site in McLean, VA and support after-hours.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly software release management processes as the technical project lead.
• Drive code quality, perform manual regression testing, support automated tests.
• Coordinate environment changes with infrastructure teams and users.
• Serve as incident management point person, including communications and RCA.
• Create and initiate projects, and know when to escape issues.
• Create technical and knowledge documentation, and define new procedures.
• Participate in on-call schedule for Northern Virginia time zone and related duties.

About the Opportunity:

ZipStaff is hiring a Junior Technical Project Coordinator for a leading financial services organization to drive monthly software release management, incident management and environment coordination for its technology teams. This is an on-site contract role in McLean, VA starting November 23, 2026. Some after-hours work is required on Thursday and Friday evenings a few times a month, with equivalent time off provided within the pay period. Interviews are one 60-minute in-person round.

What You'll Do:

• Own monthly software release management processes as the technical project lead.
• Drive code quality, execute manual regression testing and support automated JUnit tests.
• Coordinate environment changes with infrastructure teams and impacted users.
• Serve as point person for Incident Management, including communications, resolution and root cause analysis.
• Create and initiate projects, and know when to escape issues.
• Create technical and knowledge documentation, and define and drive new procedures.
• Participate in the on-call schedule (supporting the Northern Virginia time zone), along with other related management and technical duties.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics or Information Systems (non-negotiable).
• 5+ years of overall experience, including 3+ years as a Technical Project Manager or Product Owner.
• 5+ years of technical background developing and maintaining Java/Python software applications.
• Hands-on Jira experience, including reporting and strong JQL (a must).
• Experience with ServiceNow.
• Unix/Linux troubleshooting and shell scripting proficiency.
• Experience with Jenkins end-to-end build, test and deploy, integrated with Git/Artifactory.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong business and technical savvy.
• Ability to work on-site in McLean, VA, interview in person and support after-hours and on-call work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science or a related engineering field.
• Experience with Release Management practices.
• Experience with Confluence Wiki.
• Knowledge of Agentic AI and programming in Python.
• Ability to research and learn new methodologies and technologies and bring that knowledge to the team.
