Job summary

Gensler in Seattle seeks a Technical Designer to translate architect sketches into 2D/3D models and drive design through construction docs. You will collaborate with design teams, coordinate with consultants, and push for technically sound, sustainable solutions from concept through build.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related design field.
0–5 years of related project experience with growing responsibility.
Strong proficiency in Revit; BIM 360, AutoCAD and Enscape preferred.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and/or SketchUp.
Foundational knowledge of materials, construction techniques and building codes.
Familiarity with BIM workflows and Grasshopper is a plus.
Commitment to sustainability with portfolio of at least one sustainable project.
Ability to discuss built work aligned with LEED / Living Building / WELL.
Strong analytical, organizational and design reporting skills.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on informed project solutions.
Coordinate documentation with structural, MEP, lighting, acoustical and other consultants.
Coordinate with project team, client, vendors, contractors and consultants.
Resolve complex technical and design issues to deliver constructible solutions.
Direct production of drawings, specifications and construction admin tasks.
Deliver documents with design intent and high technical quality.
Process submittals and substitution requests during construction and address RFIs.
Interface with permitting officials during permitting and construction phases.
Contribute to the project financial performance and proposals.
Establish and maintain productive client relationships.
Demonstrate commitment to sustainability in project work.
