Job summary

Seabrook Solutions is seeking a junior level Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support to NASA facilities located at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The role focuses on ensuring reliable HVAC systems within complex research environments.

Responsibilities include developing scopes, specifications, and proposals, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and producing documentation to support system performance and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school.
  • Recent university graduate to 3 years of job-related experience.
  • Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a range of analysis or review tasks under the supervision of higher grade engineers.
  • Develops scope, work statements, specifications and packages for procurement of outsourced technical consulting, operations/repair, or other services.
  • Generate complete specifications for the most complex projects.
  • Provides expert advice regarding PM and PT&I programs for system performance, operational deficiencies, and methods to increase reliability and improve efficiency.
  • May train other engineers on technical issues related to the research, testing and analysis of engineering assignments.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements.
  • Establish and maintain a filing system or databases as needed for tracking project status.
  • Develop, maintain and produce technical documentation and system/subsystem specifications.
  • Directly interface and liaison with internal and external customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications.
  • Conduct site visits and experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Prepare, deliver and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies.
  • Support development of technical proposal and provide comments on the technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work.
  • May organize and supervise a group of employees for a given project, contract or job with overall responsibility for cost, schedule, technical and employee performance.

Mechanical Engineer - HVAC

Seabrook Solutions is seeking a junior level Mechanical Engineer to provide technical support to NASA facilities located at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). MSFC facilities house a broad range of technical, program management and administrative functions that directly support NASA’s mission. Maintaining functionality while being highly adaptable to the ever-changing research and development environment is paramount to the success of the nation’s space exploration vision. Engineers work closely with operational units to assure efficiency and reliability in critical systems.

Position Description:

Perform a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing, development, manufacture, test, installation, operation, and maintenance of diverse electronic/mechanical HVAC related equipment and systems and generally responsible for analysis or review of complex engineering assignments. Technical experts and managers over system(s) including maintaining a broad knowledge of related work issues, such as environmental and safety requirements, systems integration, monitoring and metering concepts. Maintain state-of-the-art technical expertise in the HVAC engineering disciplines. Responsible for keeping Performance Monitors apprised of significant systems status and key events. Develops scope, work statements, specifications and packages for procurement of outsource technical consulting, operation/repair, or other services.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited school. Recent university graduate to 3 years of job-related experience. Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Most positions involve work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must posses planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines. Some positions involve work in environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outside locations, etc.) where mechanical equipment, weapons, etc. are being installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained. Equipment may be loud and noisy or have exposed moving components. Such positions may involve routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required.
