Job summary

Edgewater Federal Solutions in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a Systems Administrator I to assist with the administration, maintenance, and support of mission systems. This onsite role focuses on routine tasks under guidance while developing technical skills as part of the DOE OSTI mission.

The position requires foundational Windows server experience, basic scripting, and strong communication as part of a collaborative team. Office location is Oak Ridge, TN.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of system administration or relevant IT experience with Windows operating systems.
• Foundational knowledge of Windows server environments.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft M365.
• Exposure to virtualization platforms such as VMware, Proxmox, or Red Hat Virtualization.
• Basic scripting experience (PowerShell preferred).
• Ability to follow procedures and technical documentation.
• Demonstrated excellent customer service.
• Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate both verbally and in written format.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and delivery.
• Self-directed, results-oriented, and flexible.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine vulnerability remediation and software patching tasks following documented procedures.
• Assist with system baseline hardening using DISA STIGs.
• Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of Windows server-based systems.
• Support management of user accounts, privileged access, and group memberships in on-premises and cloud environments.
• Assist with deployment and configuration of mission-supporting applications and infrastructure.
• Execute automation scripts for routine tasks developed by senior team members.
• Maintain system documentation, inventories, and procedural updates.
• Monitor systems and elevate issues appropriately.
• Coordinate and communicate task status with team members and stakeholders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
