Job summary

ASM Research is seeking a Junior System Administrator to support the daily operation of enterprise IT systems in a mission-critical environment. You will handle OS administration, user accounts, configurations, and core services across remote federal client environments, building foundational expertise in automation and recovery.

This role involves hands-on tasks under guidance, with 0–3 years of IT experience, DoD 8140 compliance, and an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, CS, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 0–3 years of IT/system administration experience.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and products (Windows, Windows Server, Office 365, SharePoint, Teams).
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve routine IT issues with minimal supervision.
• Must meet DoD 8140 requirements and hold an active Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship per federal contract.

Responsibilities

• Administer OS, user accounts, permissions, and system configurations per security standards.
• Perform routine system monitoring, log analysis, and health checks.
• Apply patches and security configurations to maintain compliance.
• Configure and manage backup and recovery solutions; support data restoration.
• Troubleshoot server, app, and infra issues; escalate when needed.
• Use PowerShell/Bash to automate routine tasks and improve consistency.
• Support virtualization and cloud environments (VMware, AWS, Azure).
• Maintain accurate system documentation, baselines, runbooks, and change records.
• Participate in on-call rotations for 24/7 availability.
