Job summary

Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets group is seeking a Junior Structured Energy Originator for the Americas. The role involves originating, structuring, executing and managing bespoke energy transactions, leveraging financing, risk management and physical logistics capabilities in oil markets.

You will work with senior originators to identify opportunities, build models, perform due diligence, and drive transactions from proposal to close.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years relevant experience in the physical oil markets at a bank, commodity trade house or corporate, ideally with focus on trade finance, structured finance and/or oil derivative sales.
• Understanding of the oil market and familiarity with derivatives and financing structures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities along the commodity supply chain and structure bespoke transactions.
• Prepare client presentations and term sheets; build cashflow models and conduct due diligence.
• Manage stakeholder engagement through to closing and support risk, trading, and logistics teams.

Join Macquarie's Commodities and Global Markets group as a Junior Structured Energy Originator supporting our Commodity Markets and Financing business in our Americas markets. Our team focuses on originating, structuring, executing and managing a portfolio of bespoke transactions, leveraging our financing, risk management, trading and physical logistics capabilities globally in the oil markets.

What role will you play?

In this role, you'll work alongside senior originators across all aspects of commodities financing - identifying opportunities along the commodity supply chain, executing structured transactions, and building bespoke solutions for clients. Day-to-day, this includes monitoring market and credit exposures, reconciling P&L, funding costs and regulatory capital, and handling ad hoc requests in close collaboration with risk, trading, and logistics teams.

On new transactions, you'll prepare client presentations and term sheets, build and review cashflow models, conduct due diligence, draft internal approval memos, and manage stakeholder engagement through to closing. Over time, the expectation is you will take on increasing responsibility for originating, structuring, and executing transactions.

What you offer

• 1-3 years relevant experience in the physical oil markets at a bank, commodity trade house or corporate, ideally with focus on trade finance, structured finance and/or oil derivative sales.
• Understanding of the oil market, familiarity with derivatives and the suite of commodity financing structures a plus (title-based structures, prepayments, secured facilities and letters of credit/receivables).
• Demonstrated skills in financial analysis and modelling, structuring, legal documentation, and execution of financing, credit or investment transactions - preferrable
• Highly detail-oriented and an excellent standard of work with the ability to build strong working partnerships with stakeholders and clients
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, project management ability, and the capability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
