Job summary

CDM Smith under direct supervision performs structural analyses and designs for reinforced concrete, structural steel, reinforced masonry, and other metal structures of basic complexity to meet client project requirements. They assist in model, drawing, and specification development, and ensure compliance with regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

Role includes coordinating with other disciplines, assisting in condition assessments, and contributing technical papers.

Qualifications

• Basic Knowledge of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
• Basic Knowledge of engineer principles of design.
• Knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of engineering analysis/design software (e.g. Revit, STAAD, RISA).

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analyses and designs for reinforced concrete, structural steel, reinforced masonry, and other metal structures of basic complexity.
• Assist in the development of models, drawings, and specifications.
• Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
• Coordinate designs with other engineering disciplines.
• Assist in structural condition assessment and confined space entries.
• Contribute to firm’s TKm by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc.
• Submit technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals.
• May create or work with a team to create a poster or other presentation material for a conference.
