Job summary

New-Indy Containerboard LLC is seeking a Packaging Design Engineer to craft corrugated packaging, displays, and protective solutions based on customer requirements. You will generate structural drawings, layouts, and prototypes using CAD tools and join visits with the Sales team to translate needs into manufacturable designs.

The role emphasizes collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Graphic Design to ensure cost-effectiveness and high performance.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Engineering Tech, or related field.
• Internship, co-op, coursework, or hands-on experience in packaging, manufacturing, design, or engineering is a plus.
• Familiarity with CAD software such as ArtiosCAD, AutoCAD, Cape Pack, SolidWorks, or similar platforms preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

• Design corrugated packaging, displays, and protective packaging per customer specs.
• Create structural drawings, layouts, and prototypes using packaging design software.
• Participate in customer visits with Sales to gather requirements and present designs.
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Graphic Design to ensure cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
• Assist in producing samples, mockups, and prototypes for evaluation and testing.
• Review customer specs, product dimensions, shipping requirements, and performance expectations.
