Job summary

Collins Engineers, Inc. in Virginia Beach is seeking a motivated Project Engineer I - Design to contribute to a Western Division team. You will perform structural design and inspections, developing plans and reports for heavy civil projects.

The role emphasizes strong technical proficiency, timely delivery, and coordination with clients, contractors, and agencies. A Bachelor's in civil engineering and interest in structural design are required, with EIT/PE encouraged

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; 0–5 years internship or full-time experience.
Strong interest in structural engineering design and analysis of heavy civil structures.
Experience with heavy civil structures such as bridges, piers, wharves, temporary structures or earth retaining structures is a plus.
EIT/PE encouraged; proficiency with standard office software is expected.

Responsibilities

Perform structural engineering computations per standards and practices.
Provide technical expertise to ensure compliance with codes and design instructions.
Review and resolve field and design issues; prepare engineering plans or reports.
Adhere to project budgets and timelines; inform Project Manager of scope changes.
Attend client meetings and events outside normal hours; uphold safety standards.
