Job summary

Collins Engineers, Inc. in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Project Engineer I - Design to join our Western Division. The candidate will contribute to structural design and inspections, collaborate with clients, contractors, and agencies, and support project timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Performs structural engineering computations according to engineering standards and practices.
• Provides technical engineering expertise to ensure that projects comply with all engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.
• Reviews, analyzes, and resolves field and/or design issues.
• Prepares complete engineering plans or reports.
• Demonstrates proficiency in computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare design documents.
• Makes design recommendations and/or adaptations.
• Responsible for engineering projects of varying size and complexity in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
• Adheres to project budgets and timelines and apprises the Project Manager of potential or anticipated changes in scope.
• Is available to attend client meetings or events outside of normal working hours.
• Actively observes and acts in an appropriate manner related to safety.
