Job summary

Schuff Steel is seeking a Junior Estimator to produce accurate estimates for small and large steel projects, under the guidance of a Lead Estimator. You will collaborate with fabrication, purchasing, field erection, pre-construction, sub-fabrication and vendors to ensure bids are clear and actionable.

You will review blueprints and specs, prepare takeoffs, estimate shop labor and equipment costs, and enter data in our in-house system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with structural drawing or drafting coursework.
• Strong attention to detail and written communication skills.
• Basic understanding of job cost accounting and project management concepts.

Responsibilities

• Review blueprints, specs, and documentation to prepare and estimate projects accurately.
• Collaborate on how to build the job in fabrication and erection.
• Prepare detailed estimates for new projects and change orders within deadlines.
• Take off steel materials, estimate shop labor and field erection, and costs for equipment.
