KARL STORZ North America is seeking a Software Engineer Test I (Contractor) in Goleta, CA, for a 6‑month engagement starting Sept 28, 2026. This role offers hands‑on experience in automated testing, validation, and DevOps within a regulated MedTech environment.

You will develop automated tests, participate in sprint ceremonies, and contribute to releases that support healthcare professionals worldwide.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE or related field (or recent graduate).
0–2 years of experience (internships or academic projects welcomed).
Knowledge of object‑oriented programming (e.g., C++, C#).
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute automated test scripts using existing frameworks.
Define acceptance tests for new software features.
Build supporting tools such as mocks, test harnesses, and utilities under guidance from senior engineers.
Automate manual testing tasks to improve efficiency.
Perform manual (black box) and exploratory testing.
Create and execute integration tests based on design specifications.
Investigate, document, and track software defects.
Participate in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
Contribute to estimation and planning of testing efforts.
Work closely with software engineers, architects, and project managers.
Create and maintain test documentation aligned with quality standards.
