Job summary

Visionist, Inc. is seeking a Junior Software Engineer on our largest PRIME contract, contingent on active TS/SCI clearance. The role involves embedding with analysts and engineers to craft AI-enabled tools for readiness, verification, and rapid iteration across operations users.

You will join a collaborative team that includes training staff and SMEs, contributing to design, testing, automation, and documentation using Python and Bash. Growth and mentoring opportunities are part of our culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; 4 years experience may substitute.
• 3 years of Software Engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, preferably Python or Bash.
• Knowledge of software engineering fundamentals, including Git, testing, and debugging.
• Basic knowledge of operating systems and networking concepts.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM tools and their applications in workflow automation.
• Ability to develop clear, organized technical documentation.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to learn from senior engineers and SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with training staff and stakeholders to gather requirements and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Develop and test AI-driven solutions to streamline readiness and certification workflows under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Configure AI harnesses and develop custom Skills and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers to connect AI workflows with organizational data and tools.
• Support the software development lifecycle, including prototyping, coding, testing, and delivering assigned features.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python and Bash.
• Utilize AI tools to assist with drafting, reviewing, and maintaining user documentation.
• Create technical documentation, user guides, and training materials to support adoption of new AI tools.
• Apply team coding standards, version control practices, and code review processes.
