Job summary

Leidos is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to join a collaborative team of Scientists, Engineers, and Software Developers supporting security and detection products worldwide.

You will build software on Linux systems, work with real-time data processing, object-oriented programming, and modern development practices under supervision while growing alongside experienced mentors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in CS, software engineering, computer engineering, or related field.
• Strong knowledge of C and C++.
• Familiarity with Bash and Git.
• Understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Familiarity with Linux and Docker/CI‑CD concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot software applications and systems.
• Write and maintain C/C++ and Java code using modern software development practices.
• Help identify bugs, performance issues, and system bottlenecks and assist in developing solutions.
• Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle, including design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance.
• Use Git and other version control tools to manage and maintain code.
• Work with Linux-based systems, including Red Hat and CentOS.
• Use Docker and CI/CD tools to build, test, and maintain software.
• Analyze technical issues and work with the team to identify and implement solutions.
• Contribute to software used for system design, development, testing, and infrastructure.
• Work with experienced developers and engineers to learn best practices and improve software quality.
• Participate in a structured software development process and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
