The Junior Software Engineer role at PSI is an entry-level position designed to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of PSI’s technology platforms. Junior Software Engineers focus on report creation, data accuracy, system maintenance, and foundational software engineering tasks while building core technical skills. Working closely with Software Engineers, QA, Product Managers, and other stakeholders, this role contributes to the reliability, quality, and usability of PSI’s people-focused technology solutions.
This is a full-time permanent role, with flexible hours around core office availability Monday to Friday. The role is performed on a hybrid schedule at our headquarters located at 18000 W 105th St. Olathe, KS 66061, with occasional travel for meetings, events and workshops.
Reporting & Data Support:
Create, maintain, and enhance standard and ad-hoc reports to support business and operational needs.
Validate data accuracy and completeness across reports and systems.
Assist in troubleshooting report discrepancies and data issues.
Document report logic, data sources, and usage guidelines.
Application & System Support:
Support existing web applications by performing minor enhancements, bug fixes, and configuration updates.
Assist with routine system maintenance tasks, including monitoring and basic issue resolution.
Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers with clear documentation and analysis.
Software Development Fundamentals:
Contribute code to existing applications under guidance, following established standards and best practices.
Assist with testing activities, including unit testing and regression testing.
Participate in Agile ceremonies such as stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
Review and analyze requirements and translate them into well-defined technical tasks.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
0–2 years of experience in a software engineering, reporting, or technical support role.
Hands-on experience with modern software development languages and front-end technologies, e.g. Java, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Thymeleaf, Spring MVC, .net, Go, React, Angular, CSS, HTML etc.
