Job summary

BigBear.ai is seeking a Junior Software Developer Engineer with an active TS/SCI clearance to join a fast-moving, collaborative team supporting mission-critical microservices. You will build high-performance Java microservice web applications within a modern distributed ecosystem and work directly with mission partners to drive design decisions.

You will collaborate closely with technical leads, shape roadmaps, and ensure quality through automated testing and deployment.

Qualifications

• 3 or more years of software engineering experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
• Or 7 or more years of experience (substituting 4 years of additional engineering experience in place of a Bachelor's degree).
• Core Java expertise: strong hands-on experience with Java design, debugging, and complex problem-solving.
• Modern frameworks: building RESTful web applications using Spring Boot.
• Database knowledge: experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL/relational databases.
• Quality assurance: practical experience writing and executing automated tests to ensure code reliability.

Responsibilities

• Build & Innovate: Develop and maintain high-performance Java microservice web applications within a modern, distributed ecosystem.
• Collaborate on Design: Work with the Technical Lead to make architectural decisions and shape the product roadmap.
• Engage with the Mission: Interact with customers and operators daily to troubleshoot issues and gather feedback.
• Ensure Quality: Support end-to-end testing, CI, and deployment of production-ready applications.
