Maxar Software Developer/Engineer Job Description

Maxar has an immediate opening for a Software Developer/Engineer to join our team supporting a mission to solve unique and challenging problems for national security. We are seeking an engineer who embraces technology and thrives on the art of the possible. The ideal candidate will be part of a small multi-disciplinary software team and will have the opportunity to interact directly with users and other technologists to ensure solutions, development, and tools meet customer needs.

Note: US citizenship is mandatory for this position, and the ability to obtain TS/SCI with CI poly is highly preferred.

Location: Herndon, VA

Principal Responsibilities

1. Develop software solutions using various languages to address real-world requirements; write, debug, and document code.
2. Develop, test, and maintain scalable, high-quality software for our technology stack.
3. Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and specifications.
4. Design and demo new features with cross-functional teams.
5. Implement solutions that are efficient, flexible, and scalable for mission-critical applications.
6. Ensure application performance, quality, and responsiveness.
7. Communicate technical concepts effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
8. Work with DevSecOps team to deploy features and maintain system stability.
9. Identify and fix bottlenecks and bugs.
10. Write robust test suites to ensure high-quality code.

Skills Required

1. At least 1 year of technical experience.
2. Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
3. Experience developing custom software solutions.
4. Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, with experience in React or Java for web services.
5. Understanding of scalable application design principles.
6. Ability to implement automated tests and unit testing.
7. Proficiency with version control tools like Git.
8. Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
9. Willingness to work onsite at least 75% of the time.
10. US citizenship.

Additional Skills (Desired)

• Familiarity with AI/ML, Linux, cloud architectures, Docker, Kubernetes, and DevSecOps.
• Experience with open-source resources in a government environment.
