Job summary

Akumen, Inc. in Washington, DC is seeking a Junior Software Developer to join our enterprise software team. You will contribute to design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of applications, working with senior developers and cloud technologies.

The role emphasizes learning, agile practices, and security, with opportunities to build RESTful APIs and integrations for federal customers. Applicants must reside in DC/MD/VA and be able to work onsite.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience or relevant internships developing enterprise or web-based applications.
• Experience with C#/.NET, Java, or similar OO languages and React/Angular.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps, including source control, work item tracking, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and using SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and secure coding practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, debug, and maintain enterprise software applications under guidance of senior developers and technical leads.
• Assist with front-end and back-end components, RESTful APIs, and integrations using modern development frameworks.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, sprint planning, and technical discussions with coding standards and best practices.
• Support deployments, troubleshooting, production support, and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate with Business Analysts, Product Owners, UX designers, and cross-functional teams to implement requirements.
• Develop secure, scalable, and maintainable code adhering to security policies and DevSecOps principles.
• Continuously expand technical knowledge by learning new technologies, cloud services, and best practices.
