Ensign Services, Inc. is seeking a Junior Software Developer - Automation Solutions to join a newly formed team focused on building and maintaining automation tools across diverse platforms.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and contributing to impactful projects in a supportive environment. Initial on-site work is required in either San Juan Capistrano, CA or Salt Lake City, UT with a hybrid option after a 90-day probationary period.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field.
• 1-2 years of hands-on software development or automation experience.
• Proficiency in Python or JavaScript/Node.js.
• Experience with relational databases and APIs.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development and maintenance of automation solutions under guidance of senior team members.
• Assist in enhancing and modernizing existing applications, processes, and integrations.
• Support projects involving both on-premises systems and cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
• Participate in data integration tasks, including connecting to SQL databases, APIs, and file-based data sources.
• Help develop and configure workflows and applications using low-code and BPM platforms.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and participate in iterative improvements.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to refine and communicate your own ideas more effectively.

Salary

$70,000 - $115,000, annually. DOE.

Location

We are seeking candidates that can work on-site at our service center located in San Juan Capistrano, CA or Salt Lake City, UT. This position offers a hybrid work option after a 90-day probationary period (not fully remote).

Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Required Qualifications

• Education/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and expertise in software design, development, and architecture.
• Experience: 1-2 years of hand-on experience in software development, automation, or related technical work.
• Technical Skills:
  • Experience with at least one programming language (Python, JavaScript/Node.js preferred).
  • Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
  • Basic understanding of APIs and how to consume them.
  • Exposure to cloud services, preferably AWS.
• Methodology: Familiarity with Agile or Scrum concepts and working in a team-based development environment.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to break down challenges into manageable parts and propose logical next steps.
• Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
• Nice to Have: Exposure to low-code tools, workflow automation platforms, or experience in accounting or healthcare environments.
