Job summary

IBSS Corp. in Boulder, CO is seeking a Tier 1 SOC Analyst to join our on-site security operations team. This entry-level role provides 24x7 coverage support, monitoring SIEM/EDR/IDS-IPS and other tools, with training toward Tier 2.

Active Secret or TS clearance is required, along with DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II or the ability to obtain it within 6 months. You will document events in the ticketing system, triage alerts, and escalate confirmed incidents to Tier 2 while building foundational SOC

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in IT, security operations, or related technical field (internships, labs, and military experience count).
• DoD 8140/8570-compliant baseline certification at IAT Level II or higher (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE) or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Foundational knowledge of TCP/IP, common ports and protocols, DNS, and network architecture.
• Working understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems and their logs.
• Familiarity with common attack types, including phishing, malware, brute force, and lateral movement.
• Basic understanding of the incident response lifecycle and the MITRE ATT&CK framework.

Responsibilities

• Monitor SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, firewall and other security tool consoles in real time.
• Perform initial triage of alerts using playbooks and SOPs.
• Escalate validated or suspected incidents to Tier 2 with evidence.
• Create and close tickets with clear documentation.
• Review phishing emails and conduct basic analysis of headers, URLs, and attachments.
• Track investigations and contribute to shift turnover reports and metrics.
• Follow NIST SP 800-61 incident handling procedures.
