Job summary

Sun Valley Resort's Ski & Ride Team is seeking Junior Ski Instructors to assist certified instructors in teaching skiing or snowboarding lessons during peak periods, including Christmas to New Year's and Presidents Week, plus some weekends. No prior certification required.

Junior Instructors will shadow senior staff, demonstrate techniques in a safe, supportive environment, and provide excellent guest service.

Qualifications

• Must be between ages 14–18 and enrolled in high school.
• Commit to at least 120 hours during the winter season.
• Ability to ski or snowboard safely at an intermediate level.
• Willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Excellent guest service and teamwork mindset.

Description

Sun Valley Resort’s Ski & Ride Team is seeking Junior Ski Instructors to assist certified instructors in teaching skiing or snowboarding lessons during our peak periods of business. This includes the Christmas - New Year's Eve period and President's Week and some weekends . With support from the Ski and Ride School's Operations Team, Junior Instructors help create lessons that prioritizessafety, fun, and learning. Jr. Instructors are required to complete training. No prior certification or experience is required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work closely with and shadow Senior Instructors during group lessons.
• Assist in teaching and demonstrating skiing/riding techniques in a safe, supportive environment

Provide exceptional guest service

Prioritize student and personal safety

• Collaborate effectively with team members and work independently with groups of students.
• Participate in training sessions and shadow upper-level lessons as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to commit to working at least 120 hours during the winter season.
• Must be between the ages 14–18 and enrolled in high school at the time of hiring.
• Ability to ski or snowboard safely, independently, and with appropriate control at an intermediate level.
• Provide appropriate physical assistance and support to students in varying terrain and snow conditions.
• Passionate about mountain sports and outdoor recreation.
• Positive, can-do attitude with effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Enthusiastic about working with children and contributing to a fun, safe learning environment.
• Ability to support Sun Valley’s World Class guest service.
• Available to work weekends and holidays.
• Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, skiing or snowboarding, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, and reaching.
• Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Training:

• New Jr. Instructor training is held in mid-December , with additional opportunities for continued learning throughout the season.
