Job summary

Bear Valley Mountain Resort is seeking a Junior Ski & Snowboard Instructor for the Winter 26-27 season in Bear Valley, CA. This seasonal position supports lesson delivery and runs with both full-time and part-time options.

Involves completing an online PSIA/AASI course, assisting instructors with young students, and modeling professional behavior. You must be 14+ with a valid permit and be comfortable skiing or riding on beginner terrain.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 14 years old with valid work permit.
• Minimum ability to ski or snowboard at beginner level (comfortable on green terrain).
• Register with The Snow Pros Junior Instructor Program.
• Ability to interact and collaborate with colleagues of all ages.
• Work in extreme weather conditions.

• Knowledge and practice of The Code, as developed through NSAA.

Responsibilities

• Attend teaching/ability clinics when available for personal and professional development.
• Be a positive role model for all students, while representing the Ski & Snowboard School in a professional manner.
• Adhere to Bear Valley Mountain Resort policies and procedures and model behavior consistent with the company Code of Conduct.

Job Summary

Our Junior Instructor Program is offered in collaboration with PSIA/AASI and is designed to provide on-snow experience under the guidance of an experienced ski or snowboard instructor. Junior Instructors develop valuable skills like communication, independence, discipline, professionalism, and managing group dynamics by assisting in facilitating ski and/or snowboard lessons for our guests.

Full Time and Part Time Positions available.

Work Schedules

Weather, snow conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Bear Valley Mountain Resort employees.

Holiday, and part-time positions are available, with a minimum requirement of eighteen (18) days worked over the course of the season, including scheduled training. Junior Instructors can anticipate between two (2) and six (6) hours of work per scheduled day.

You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you may be required to drive on hilly, snowpacked, and icy roads. The employee shuttle is available from select locations along highway 4 for return transport to and from work.

Working Conditions

At any time during the ski season, Bear Valley employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

Employees working inside can expect a noisy environment and frequent contact with guests and other resort employees.

This position requires the physical fitness to ski and/or snowboard for up to six (6) hours per day.

Uniforms

A professional appearance at Bear Valley Mountain Resort is required, and some uniform items will be provided as part of your role, including pants, jacket, light shirt/hoody, hat and nametag.

You are required to provide some items as part of your job, including skis and poles/snowboard, boots, helmet and eye protection - all in good condition and working order.

The skiing/riding employee represents a model for safe skiing for both the guest and fellow employees. You are required to be aware of all safe skiing procedures, trail closures, and out-of-bounds policies of the mountain.
