Job summary

The Minnesota Senate, Senate Counsel, Research, and Fiscal Analysis (SCRFA) seeks a full-time, permanent counsel to staff Higher Education, Local Government, and Veterans. This role provides nonpartisan services to Senators and staff, drafts bills, amendments, memos, and bill summaries, and conducts legal and policy research.

Telework is available on a hybrid basis when the legislature is not in session. The successful candidate will work with committee teams, meet with lawmakers and agency

Qualifications

• Must have a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in Minnesota or eligible to apply for Minnesota admission.
• Ability to work in a non-partisan capacity for all members and staff.

Responsibilities

• Draft bills, amendments, memos, and bill summaries.
• Perform legal and policy research.
• Attend Senate committee hearings and floor sessions.
• Collaborate with legislators, staff, and lobbyists.
