Job summary

Motion Recruitment Partners LLC is seeking a Junior Security Engineer for a full-time role in Philadelphia, PA. You will work with modern security tools and practices to protect enterprise infrastructure, gaining hands-on experience across Windows, Linux, and SIEM environments.

You’ll use Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Active Directory, and vulnerability management tools, collaborating with a team to monitor, harden, and respond to security events in a real-world enterprise setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 0–2 years in information security, IT support or systems administration.
• Basic understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs.
• Experience with Windows Server and/or Linux administration.
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Knowledge of vulnerability management, endpoint security and access control.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 0–2 years of experience in information security, IT support, or systems administration
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs)
• Experience with Windows Server and/or Linux administration
• Familiarity with Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments
• Knowledge of security fundamentals including vulnerability management, endpoint security, and access control
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills & Experience

• Security+, CySA+, or other relevant cybersecurity certification
• Exposure to SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel or Splunk
• Experience with Microsoft Defender or other endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions
• Familiarity with scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash
• Internship or lab experience supporting security operations
• Understanding of cloud security concepts (Azure or AWS)
