Job summary

John H. Carter Company is seeking a Safety Support Specialist to provide hands-on safety support at company facilities and at customer locations, including assignments to projects, shutdowns, turnarounds, and high-risk activities.

You will conduct safety inspections and observations, document findings, coach employees, and help track corrective actions through completion. The role emphasizes promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring compliance with OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on safety support at company facilities and customer locations.
• Conducts routine safety inspections, observations, and walkthroughs; documents findings, coaches employees, and assists with tracking corrective actions through completion.
• Supports compliance with company policies, customer requirements, OSHA regulations, and other applicable standards by reviewing work activities and required safety documentation, including JSAs, permits, and inspections.
• Participates in pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite safety meetings and provides employees and supervision with guidance on safety requirements and safe work practices.
• Assists the Safety Department with the implementation and maintenance of facility safety programs, Customer Site Safety Execution Plans, field-specific procedures, internal and external audits, and other safety initiatives.
• Assists the Safety Department with incident and near-miss intake, investigations, case management, reporting, root cause analysis, corrective actions.
• Promotes a positive safety culture by demonstrating safe behavior, professionally addressing unsafe conditions or actions, supporting employees at all levels of the organization, and collaborating with management, employees, and customers to improve safety performance.
