Job summary

John H. Carter Company is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety professional to provide hands-on safety support at facilities and customer locations. You will conduct inspections, coach employees, assist with corrective actions, participate in pre-job meetings, and help implement safety programs and OSHA compliance.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial EHS role.
  • Manufacturing or petrochemical facility experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides hands-on safety support at company facilities and customer locations.
  • Conducts routine safety inspections, observations and walkthroughs; documents findings and coaches employees.
  • Supports compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and safety standards through review of JSAs, permits, and inspections.
  • Participates in pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite safety meetings; guides on safety requirements and safe work practices.
  • Assists in implementing and maintaining facility safety programs and site safety execution plans.
  • Assists with incident and near-miss intake, investigations, reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Promotes a positive safety culture by addressing unsafe conditions and collaborating with management and staff.

Job description


  • Provides hands‑on safety support at company facilities and customer locations and may be temporarily assigned to projects, shutdowns, turnarounds, and high‑risk activities requiring additional safety support.

  • Conducts routine safety inspections, observations, and walkthroughs; documents findings, coaches employees, and assists with tracking corrective actions through completion.

  • Supports compliance with company policies, customer requirements, OSHA regulations, and other applicable standards by reviewing work activities and required safety documentation, including JSAs, permits, and inspections.

  • Participates in pre‑job meetings, toolbox talks, and jobsite safety meetings and provides employees and supervision with guidance on safety requirements and safe work practices.

  • Assists the Safety Department with the implementation and maintenance of facility safety programs, Customer Site Safety Execution Plans, field‑specific procedures, internal and external audits, and other safety initiatives.

  • Assists the Safety Department with incident and near‑miss intake, investigations, case management, reporting, root cause analysis, corrective actions.

  • Promotes a positive safety culture by demonstrating safe behavior, professionally addressing unsafe conditions or actions, supporting employees at all levels of the organization, and collaborating with management, employees, and customers to improve safety performance.

  • Duties and Responsibilities can change from time to time based on business needs, customer demands or other industry or job‑related circumstances

  • Regular and predictable attendance is essential for this position


Qualifications

Education

Required

High School or better.


Experience

Required

Minimum of 2 years of experience in an industrial EHS role, preferably with a manufacturing facility, petrochemical facility, industrial service provider, industrial contractor or similar
