Job summary

PUMA is seeking a design-oriented footwear designer for a six-month, full-time temporary on-site assignment in Somerville, MA. You will support development of running footwear, create sketches and presentations, and translate trends into concepts.

The role requires a design degree or related experience, strong sketching and CAD skills, and a passion for running footwear. On-site work with potential for permanent conversion based on performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Footwear Design, Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong passion for running, athletic footwear, sports culture, and performance product innovation.
• Foundational understanding of footwear design principles, product construction, color, materials, and form.
• Strong sketching, rendering, and visual communication skills with portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of performance running footwear across silhouettes, colorways, materials, and seasonal product updates.
• Create sketches, renderings, color explorations, and design presentations communicating concepts and design intent.
• Translate seasonal design direction, consumer insights, and running trends into footwear design solutions.
• Research the competitive running footwear landscape, including technologies, cushioning, materials, and trends.
• Collaborate with senior designers and cross-functional partners to execute design concepts.
• Participate in sample reviews and revise details based on feedback and requirements.
• Prepare and maintain design files, color specs, material references, and presentation materials.
• Contribute to brainstorming, trend research, and innovative ideas to push running footwear forward.
