Job summary

Central Rock Gym in Warwick, Rhode Island, is looking for an Apprentice Route Setter. This position provides a hands-on learning opportunity to develop skills for a professional setting role, assisting the Head and Assistant Setters in various tasks.

The ideal candidate will have climbing experience, a flexible schedule, and be comfortable working at heights. Responsibilities include route setting, maintenance tasks, and adherence to safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Flexible schedule with early morning and afternoon availability.
• 2+ years of climbing experience preferred.
• Comfortable working at heights of 40+ feet and on ropes, ladders, and lifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setting, stripping, cleaning, and organizing holds.
• Follow the explicit direction of the Head Setter.
• Forerun and set routes up to 5.12 and boulders up to V6+.
• Assist with maintenance tasks such as fixing spinners and inspecting auto belays.
• Support competition setup and teardown.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and use protective equipment appropriately.
