Job summary

IBM in Tucson, AZ is seeking a QA/Test Engineer to ensure quality, reliability, performance and security of enterprise software solutions. You will design and execute testing strategies, automate coverage, identify defects, and drive continuous quality improvements throughout the SDLC.

You will collaborate with developers, architects, product managers, and support teams, contribute to CI/CD pipelines, and participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and test automation framework development.

Qualifications

• Understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, and quality assurance principles.
• Experience developing and executing manual and automated test cases.
• Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Go, or Shell scripting.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of defect tracking and test management tools.
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line environments.
• Understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems testing.
• Knowledge of source control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end test plans.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and test suites to improve test coverage and efficiency.
• Collaborate with software developers and product teams to understand requirements and ensure quality is built into the development process.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution.
• Validate new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to ensure they meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, and agile development activities.
• Perform root cause analysis of product defects and work with engineering teams to drive corrective actions.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines by integrating automated testing and quality gates.
• Monitor product quality metrics and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Create and maintain test documentation, validation reports, and quality assurance standards.
