Job summary

IBM in Poughkeepsie, NY is seeking a QA/Test Intern to help ensure quality, reliability, performance, and security of enterprise software solutions. You will design and execute testing strategies, automate test coverage, and drive continuous quality improvements across the software lifecycle.

You will collaborate with developers, architects, PMs, and support teams to deliver robust testing frameworks, identify defects, and validate features in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Understanding of software testing methodologies, test design techniques, and quality assurance principles.
• Experience developing and executing manual and automated test cases.
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools.
• Knowledge of defect tracking and test management tools.
• Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line environments.
• Understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems testing.
• Knowledge of source control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end test plans.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and test suites to improve test coverage and efficiency.
• Collaborate with software developers and product teams to understand requirements and ensure quality is built into the development process.
• Identify, document, prioritize, and track software defects through resolution.
• Validate new features, enhancements, and bug fixes to ensure they meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, and agile development activities.
• Perform root cause analysis of product defects and work with engineering teams to drive corrective actions.
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines by integrating automated testing and quality gates.
• Monitor product quality metrics and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
• Create and maintain test documentation, validation reports, and quality assurance standards.
