Job summary

ASM Research in San Antonio, Texas is seeking a Junior Software Tester to support QA activities by executing test plans and validating application functionality across environments. You will contribute to manual and automated testing for mission-critical government systems, collaborating with developers, product owners and stakeholders to improve coverage, reliability and overall quality.

Bachelor's degree required; 0–3 years' experience; active Secret clearance per program needs; US citizenship

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; equivalent experience considered.
• 0–3 years in software or system testing and QA.
• Experience designing and executing structured test cases and documenting defects clearly.
• Familiar with test management and defect-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
• Basic scripting in Java, Python, or JavaScript for web/API testing.
• Ability to obtain/maintain active Secret clearance; current Secret clearance required.
• Must be a US citizen.

Responsibilities

• Execute functional, regression, integration, system, and basic performance tests.
• Design, write, and maintain structured test cases, test scripts, and traceability matrices.
• Identify, document, and track defects with clear reproduction steps, expected vs actual results, and severity.
• Contribute to automated test frameworks and scripts for web and API testing (Selenium) with basic scripting.
• Prepare test data sets, support test environment setup, and verify readiness before test cycles.
• Perform basic performance and security testing activities and use scanning tools to validate controls.
• Use SQL queries to validate database contents and ensure data integrity.
• Produce test reports and dashboards to communicate progress and defect trends.
• Collaborate with developers to improve testability and QA processes.
