Job summary

Tabbed is building its QA practice from the ground up. You will be the first dedicated QA member, starting with manual testing on iOS and Android in React Native and then establishing automation foundations with UI/UX regression tests and POS-like test fixtures.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers and product managers, shaping how we test, measure quality, and grow the QA function. You will gain ownership early, learn fast, and help define our testing strategy, tooling choices, and quality

Qualifications

• Hands-on programming in TypeScript/JavaScript and Node.js with async code.
• Familiarity with React and React Native components and lifecycle.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS/SE or equivalent practical experience.
• Understanding of SDLC and QA concepts (test plans, test cases, regression testing).
• Attention to detail and problem-solving with proactive communication.
• Comfort with ambiguity and self-motivation.

Responsibilities

• Create our first formal end-to-end manual test plans and execute them on iOS and Android for new features, bug fixes, and release candidates
• Write clear, reusable test cases from product requirements, designs, and user stories, and organize them into a living test library
• Identify, document, and track defects with precise reproduction steps, noting whether issues are platform-specific or shared across iOS and Android, and work directly with developers to verify fixes
• Use Node.js and TypeScript tooling to debug issues, inspect logs and API traffic, and help pinpoint root causes
• Perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases, device and OS-version differences, and usability issues
• Help establish baseline QA processes: bug reporting standards, release checklists, and test documentation
• Begin building automated UI/UX regression tests for our React Native app
• Develop test fixtures and mock services in TypeScript and Node.js that simulate POS terminal behavior, reducing our reliance on physical hardware
• Help evaluate and recommend testing tools and frameworks, and bring automated tests into our CI/CD pipeline over time
• Partner with engineers and product managers during project planning, standups, and release readiness reviews
