Job summary

Peraton is seeking a JR Software Quality Assurance Automation Engineer to support automated testing for secure satellite ground communications and data transport. You will design and maintain automated test suites, validate web interfaces and microservices, and contribute to testing practices that ensure reliable performance for U.S.

Government systems. This position may be supported from Arlington, VA or Seal Beach, CA and involves Cypress/JavaScript, REST API testing, Linux, CI/CD pipelines,

Qualifications

• Associates degree and 4+ years of experience; OR bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience. Additional four years experience may substitute for degree.
• Approximately 2 years of hands-on software testing or automation experience in Agile environments.
• Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI and maintain clearance.
• Experience creating/maintaining automated tests with Cypress and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Basic REST API testing understanding.
• Experience in Linux environments (CLI, logs, scripts).
• Familiarity with Postgres/MySQL.
• Exposure to CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI), Git, Jira.
• Hands-on automation/test frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, PyTest, or JUnit.
• Ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams and follow testing processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated test suites using Cypress to validate web interfaces, APIs, and workflows.
• Execute regression and functional automated tests; document defects in Jira.
• Prepare, validate, and manage test data in Postgres/MySQL.
• Perform basic system analysis in Linux; interpret logs and run scripts with guidance.
• Participate in requirements reviews, sprint planning, and testability discussions.
• Assist in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI); exposure to AWS and containers.
• Collaborate with developers, system engineers, and testers to improve test coverage.
• Support test execution during formal events and prepare test reports for stakeholders.
