Apogee Solutions, a Woman-Owned Small Business, is seeking multiple Junior Public Affairs Analysts to support the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Science and Technology at the Pentagon. Qualified candidates must have a DOD SECRET clearance.

The Junior Public Affairs Analysts are responsible for providing a multi-faceted, multi-media education and outreach program designed to increase industry and academia awareness of the Defense Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs. DASD S&T is a part of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD R&E) and is responsible for fostering innovation and providing unparalleled technical expertise and dominance for the DOD. OUSD R&E oversees science and technology research programs, manages laboratories and research institutions, and engages with industry and academia.

The Junior Public Affairs Analyst Will

• Identify relevant events to achieve DOD SBIR and STTR Programs’ goals as well as scheduling, preparing, managing, and facilitating outreach events.
• Conduct outreach at approved conferences and venues across the United States, as directed by the Defense SBIR / STTR Program Office, to potentially include exhibitions.
• Plan, manage, and host events such as conferences, seminars, symposiums, and other outreach events to promote the SBIR and STTR programs and work with the small business community and other federal agencies to expand R&D opportunities.
• Conduct administrative tasks for conferences such as ensuring that display and handout materials are shipped, display areas are set-up, and all materials are returned in good condition.
• Design, purchase, maintain, and operate exhibits, displays, and related equipment and materials.
• Design and purchase conference promotional materials to include brochures, pamphlets, briefings, information papers, and websites.
  
  

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution in Business, Journalism, Public Policy, Public Affairs, or other related field
• 5 years of experience in a Public Affairs Office
  
  

Desired Experience

• 1 year of experience supporting an SBIR / STTR Program Office
• Experience with writing and text copy editing to convey complex ideas in a clear, direct, and lively style
• Working knowledge of graphic design and print layout using software tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, or Adobe InDesign as well as video production (videography, audio recording, audio/video editing) and experience with live video streaming (e.g., Facebook Live, YouTube)
• Experience with managing social media campaigns using various tools (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Blogging)
• Experience with email marketing, writing effective email messages compelling recipient engagement, and experience using various email marketing software (e.g., Mail Chimp, Constant Contact, Granicus) to design and distribute email messages
• Familiarity with website and social media engagement analytics software (e.g., Google Analytics) to measure effectiveness of social media campaigns
