Job summary

Cushman & Wakefield is seeking an entry-level Staff Accountant to perform cash and basic accrual accounting functions, including general ledger and financial reporting. The role aims to expose the candidate to industry knowledge and progress to a Client Accountant position.

The position involves full cycle accounting for various property types, collaboration with management, and a path toward more complex accounting tasks as experience grows.

Qualifications

• Less than 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent education/experience.
• College Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Prior experience with accounting or database software packages; basic knowledge of commercial real estate; proficient in MS Office; strong keyboarding and 10 Key skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform Full Cycle Accounting to cash basis or basic accrual for various properties; manage bank reconciliations and cash management; handle AP and AR; maintain medium workload for clients.
• Prepare basic financial reporting packages timely and accurately according to controls and client needs.
• Assist with accounting support functions as directed by manager; gain exposure to additional property accounting tasks and ad hoc analyses.
• Apply Client Accounting Policies & Procedures to all transactions; understand structure and separation of duties between Property Management and Client Accounting.
• Communicate accounting issues clearly to management; collaborate with clients and property management in a timely manner.
• Shadow senior staff to learn advanced accounting concepts for higher complexity properties; learn straight-line rent, fixed assets, tenant counts, and full accrual accounting.
