Job summary

Gulf Island is seeking a Junior Project Manager to support planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of complex fabrication and construction projects. You will work with Project Managers, Engineering, Production, Quality, Procurement and Client representatives to ensure safety, schedule, budget, and customer specifications are met.

This entry-level role offers hands-on exposure to project management within a heavy industrial fabrication environment, with responsibilities across planning,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Management, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Management or related field.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)
• Ability to learn project scheduling and project management software
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to spend time in both office and fabrication yard environments
• Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen and physical
• Must be able to pass a background check

Responsibilities

• Plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, schedule etc. to execute contracts
• Track project schedules, milestones, deliverables and action items
• Maintain liaison with customers and inspectors to communicate concerns and changes
• Strategize and maintain project initiatives to meet objectives
• Review customer specifications, drawings, contracts and technical documents
• Gather project status information from field personnel and department managers
• Support cost tracking by compiling expenditures and labor hours
• Maintain organized project records and submittals
• Identify opportunities for optimization of division policies and workflows
• Identify risks and mitigation strategies across multiple projects
• Collaborate with other Project Managers on recurring items
• Prepare meeting agendas, notes and follow-up action logs
• Perform other duties as assigned
