Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking an organized, detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to join the Project Management and Controls Division. This entry-level role provides a premier launchpad for a career in civil engineering and infrastructure delivery, offering hands-on experience on capital projects—from watermain replacements to drainage upgrades to addressing facility needs.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent education.
• Two years of college-level coursework in engineering and construction technology or equivalent.
• Two years of civil engineering work under licensed engineer may substitute.
• Current Washington State driver's license or equivalent mobility.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate permitting timelines and assist in preparing documentation.
• Communicate with permitting agencies, internal teams, and external vendors to support project delivery.
• Help onboard vendors, track contracts, and assist with invoice processing.
• Collect, organize, and upload field data, photos, and inspection logs.
• Attend project meetings, take notes, and follow up on action items.
• Maintain internal schedules, trackers, and compliance documentation systems.
• Support construction closeout by organizing records and ensuring documentation is complete.
• Assist with multiple projects across SPU’s water, drainage, and wastewater portfolios.
