Experience supporting federal government or Department of Defense (DoD) IT programs is highly desirable. Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and the system authorization process is a significant plus.

This position is ideal for someone who combines strong organizational and communication skills with enough technical knowledge to coordinate effectively with network engineers, system administrators, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, coordination, execution, and tracking of IT infrastructure and cybersecurity projects.
  • Coordinate project schedules, milestones, deliverables, action items, risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Work with technical teams to understand project requirements, identify blockers, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
  • Maintain project documentation, status reports, meeting minutes, schedules, and other program deliverables.
  • Develop a high-level understanding of system architectures and how servers, switches, workstations, and network security components interact.
  • Assist with coordinating network, systems, and cybersecurity activities across multiple technical teams.
  • Support the collection, organization, and tracking of cybersecurity documentation, security controls, and compliance evidence.
  • Assist with Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities, including documentation, security control implementation tracking, assessment preparation, and authorization-related deliverables.
  • Track project risks, issues, and dependencies and elevate concerns to project leadership as appropriate.
  • Participate in technical meetings and translate discussions into clear action items, decisions, and project updates.
  • Help ensure project activities align with customer requirements, contractual deliverables, security policies, and established timelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Approximately 1–3 years of experience in IT project coordination, technical support, systems administration, networking, cybersecurity, or a related technical environment.
  • Foundational understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, network switches, workstations, IP networking, and basic network connectivity.
  • Ability to understand, at a high level, how systems communicate across a network and how infrastructure components depend on one another.
  • Strong organizational, written communication, verbal communication, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to coordinate technical personnel, manage competing priorities, and track deliverables to completion.
  • Proficiency with common project tracking and documentation tools, such as Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams, and project scheduling or task management software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal government, DoD, or other government IT programs.
  • Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework (RMF), including its purpose, lifecycle, and role in system authorization.
  • Exposure to RMF-related documentation and processes, such as System Security Plans (SSPs), security control assessments, Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and Authority to Operate (ATO) packages.
  • Experience working with cybersecurity, network engineering, systems administration, or IT infrastructure teams.
  • Familiarity with security compliance requirements, NIST publications, and federal information security processes.
  • Understanding of basic network concepts, including IP addresses, subnets, routing, switching, firewalls, and network segmentation.
  • Experience with Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid project management methodologies.
