Job summary

Bird-Johnson Propeller Company, a Fairbanks Morse Defense Company, is seeking an entry-level Buyer (Finance) at the Walpole, MA office. You will source materials, negotiate with suppliers, and support production for defense propulsion systems, ensuring timely, cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality.

This onsite role requires attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and regular collaboration with engineering, finance, and operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Strong negotiation and organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Execute purchase orders for materials, equipment, and services based on production and operational requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers for reliable sourcing.
• Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms for best value.
• Identify new suppliers to strengthen the supply chain and support company growth.
• Stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctuations, and industry developments for strategic purchasing.
• Ensure all purchasing activities align with company policies and government defense requirements (FAR/DFARS, CPSR).
• Collaborate with engineering, finance, and operations to align procurement with project needs.
